Who made this page: Properteer made it. We list ourselves first, on criteria we chose. The criteria are below, so you can judge them. We read every other fact on each company's own site on 5 November 2026.
Quick answer
For home maintenance, Properteer is our first pick if you want the house's upkeep planned and local pros' bids lined up for you. Thumbtack lists 300K+ local pros. Handy books in its app. Bark has pros send quotes. TaskRabbit is still the better fit for a same-day errand.
How we evaluated
We asked four questions about each option:
- Is it built for home maintenance and repairs, or mostly for errands like furniture assembly?
- Does it know what your house needs before you hire anyone?
- Does it get you prices from local pros that you can compare?
- Does it say plainly what protects you if a job goes wrong?
We picked these four because they match what a homeowner needs to plan upkeep. Properteer was built for the first two, so it scores well on them. That is a bias, and we say so here.

1. Properteer
It starts from your house. You upload an inspection report or enter your address. It lists the furnace, roof, water heater and other parts, with age and health for each. Then it makes a maintenance plan with reminders.
When something needs a pro, you tell Chat in a sentence or a photo. Chat writes the request and emails local vendors. It shows the bids side by side with price, warranty and availability. Nothing goes to a vendor until you approve it.
- Cost: $5.99 a month or $57.50 a year. Both start with 30 days free and no credit card. Every plan has every feature, for up to 2 properties.
- Works on the web, iOS and Android.
- Chat calling vendors by phone is listed as coming soon.
Not for: someone who needs a person at the door today for a quick job like TV mounting. Chat waits for vendor bids. Start a free 30-day trial or see the plan details.
2. Thumbtack
Thumbtack says it lists 300K+ local pros in every U.S. county. Its home page groups work into Home Maintenance, Home Remodeling, Outdoor Upkeep and Essential Home Services. You share job details, see your price up front, pick a day and time, and get matched with a pro. It says there are no calls or texts until you message a pro.
It says that if the job is not done as agreed, you could get up to $2,500 back. Terms apply.
Not for: knowing what to fix next. It finds and books pros. It does not track your own house.
3. Handy
Handy lists cleaning, TV mounting, furniture assembly, plumbing, outlets, gutters and more. Its site says it no longer takes bookings. You book in the Handy app. It says it is powered by Angi and now connects you with pros through Angi.
The Handy Happiness Guarantee says Handy will work to make it right if you are not happy. It applies only when you book and pay through Handy. Customer service runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Not for: anyone who wants to book on a website.
4. Bark
You describe what you need and verify your phone number. Bark finds professionals. They only get your details after they send you a quote. You can read each pro's profile and reviews before you choose. House & Home is one of its service areas.
Its how-it-works page does not describe a guarantee. It does not say what Bark costs the customer.
Not for: someone who wants a written guarantee behind the job.
Where TaskRabbit still wins
TaskRabbit says you can schedule a Tasker "as early as today." It lists furniture assembly, mounting, moving, cleaning and home repairs. It says Taskers are background checked before they join. For a quick errand, that is hard to beat. Properteer is for planning the house, not for the next hour.
